The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
