The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
