The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
