▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say, “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?” 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then verily ye, O ye erring, denying people. 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 “We have been penalised; 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 74
