Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a high Garden, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
