Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
