Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
