Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
