Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and had not known my account. 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
