The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A questioner asked of a chastisement about to fall 1 The infidels, of which there is no averter. 2 From Allah, the Lord of all pinnacles. 3 by which the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him in one Day which will last for fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 behold, they see it as if far off; 6 But We see it (quite) near. 7 The day when the sky will become as molten copper, 8 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, 9 And not a friend shall ask a friend, 10 (Though) they shall be made to see each other. The guilty one would fain redeem himself from the chastisement of that day by (sacrificing) his children, 11 his wife, his brother, 12 And his family who had stood by him, 13 And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. 14 By no means! It will be the fierce flame 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 It will claim all such as turn their backs [on what is right,] and turn away [from the truth,] 17 And accumulated wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Indeed man is created very impatient, greedy. 19 [As a rule,] whenever misfortune touches him, he is filled with self-pity; 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 save those that pray 22 who are steadfast in prayer; 23 who, from their wealth is a known right 24 for the needy and the deprived, 25 And those who believe in the Day of Recompense 26 And those who fear the punishment of their Lord. 27 Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe - 28 And those who of their private parts are guards. 29 Are free of blame, 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers. 31 who honor their trust and promises, 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies. 33 and who observe their prayers. 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35
