Noah (Nooh)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Bee (Al-nahl) before Abraham (Ibrahim)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 He will forgive your sins and give you a respite for an appointed time. When the time which God has appointed arrives, none will be able to postpone it. Would that you knew this!" 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 But the more I called, they only ran the farther away. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 rain from the sky, 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
