Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 3 And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 ‘And that they assumed, like you humans assume, that Allah would not send any Noble Messenger.’ 7 And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. 8 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 and that “when we heard the teaching of the Right Way we came to believe in it; he who believes in His Lord shall have no fear of suffering loss or being subjected to any injustice”; 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
