Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 And He - exalted be the majesty of our Lord! hath taken neither a spouse nor a son. 3 And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. 7 "We went near the heavens but found it to be full of strong guards and shooting flames. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. 10 And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways: 11 ‘And we are certain that we cannot defeat Allah in the earth, nor can we run out of His grasp.’ 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. 14 But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
