Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 And that the foolish amongst us used to forge extravagant things against Allah: 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 ‘And that they assumed, like you humans assume, that Allah would not send any Noble Messenger.’ 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 And so we do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. 13 Some of us have surrendered (Muslims) and some of us have deviated. Those who surrendered sought the Right Path, 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 ‘And that when Allah’s bondman stood up to worship Him, the jinns had almost crowded upon him.’” 19
