The tribe of Thamud rejected the Messengers. 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 143 So fear God and follow me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 “Will you be left peacefully in these favours over here?” 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 And corn-fields and palm-trees whereof the spathes are fine? 148 hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill? 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 Who corrupt the land and do not reform it." 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 So the punishment overtook them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
