Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
