Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 half the night, or a little less 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Indeed during the day you have a long schedule of occupations. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
