Do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We will give sustenance to all of you. To kill them is certainly a great sin. 31 And do not commit adultery - for, behold, it is an abomination and an evil way. 32 And do not kill any one whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is slain unjustly, We have indeed given to his heir authority, so let him not exceed the just limits in slaying; surely he is aided. 33 And do not touch the substance of an orphan, save to improve it, before he comes of age. And be true to every promise - for, verily, [on Judgment Day] you will be called to account for every promise which you have made! 34 Give full measure, when you measure, and weigh with accurate scales. That is fair, and better in the end. 35 And follow not that of which you have not the knowledge; surely the hearing and the sight and the heart, all of these, shall be questioned about that. 36 And walk not in the earth exultant. Lo! thou canst not rend the earth, nor canst thou stretch to the height of the hills. 37 The evil of all this is odious in thy Sustainer's sight: 38 That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of wisdom. And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished. 39 Has then your Lord (O Pagans!) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself daughters among the angels? Truly ye utter a most dreadful saying! 40
