Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
