The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 Yet, when they see a sign they [who deny the truth] turn their backs and say, "The same old sorcery!" 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
