Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 and endure with patience whatever people may say [against thee,] and avoid them with a comely avoidance. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
