The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
