The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons standing before him, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 it scorches the skin; 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
