The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
