The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
