۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
