The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise, and warn. 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 and purify your robes, 4 stay away from sins 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
