The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your robes, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And children present [with him] 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
