The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 thy robes purify 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
