The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 He looked (at others); 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
