The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
