The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
