No, by the moon! 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
