Nay! By the moon 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 about the sinners. 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 running away from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
