No, by the moon! 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 a warning to humans, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 "And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly." 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
