Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except the people of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 about the sinners. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
