Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 a warning to humans, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 About the criminals, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
