NAY, but consider the moon! 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to humans, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
