Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
