Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
