The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
