In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
