50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 As justification or warning, 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 The Messengers will receive their appointments. 11 To what day is the doom fixed? 12 To the day of decision. 13 And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 Till a limit known? 22 Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed. 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 28 "Go to what you used to deny; 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 "Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
