50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 And those that strike violently, 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 excusing or warning, 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 11 to what day shall they be delayed? 12 To the day of decision. 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place the womb. 21 until an appointed time? 22 Thus have We determined [the nature of man's creation]: and excellent indeed is Our power to determine [what is to be]! 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle. 25 for the living and the dead, 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 28 "Go to what you used to deny; 29 "Move towards the shadow of the smoke having three branches." 30 "Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 This is a day wherein they speak not, 35 nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses. 36 On that day, woe would be those who have rejected God's revelations! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 40
