The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
