The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
