The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
