The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
