The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
