The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
